Storyboards

Now that Fringe festival has come and gone, I've been focussing on some more detailed storyboards (as well as illustrating a kids book, more on that later!) I wanted some better quality pre-visualization drawings while I'm still figuring out the aesthetic. More to follow!

Brain Cravers!

Zombies have overrun the Winnipeg Fringe Festival!

World-famous director Vanguard Braun unveils his riveting new play Extollo. As this gripping futuristic drama unfolds, a terrifying deadly curse is unleashed on the Winnipeg Fringe. You're dying to see it … but will you survive?

Warning! Deadly zombie curse in effect. Symptoms include ravenous craving for brains, rapid bodily decay, zombification and death. Attend at your own risk.

I recently was given the opportunity to do the makeup/special FX for a live theatre show created by the incredibly talented Scott Cranwill & Kevin Doherty (Magic Toaster Productions and Soapscum) I was all jitters opening night but it was a blast - anyone in Winnipeg should come check it out this week - it's got it all! http://www.winnipegfringe.com/2011-Fringe/fr_perflist.aspx#Magic+Toaster+Productions
(literally has it all... warnings for subject matter, language, gunshots, strobe lights, cannibalism... don't bring little kids but it's an amazing time!)

NW Animation Festival & New sculpt

'Light' got into the Northwest Animation Festival!
http://www.nwanimationfest.com/

I'm thrilled to be included with such amazing films and wish I could be there!

My partner designed the creature in the balcony (for the ballet animation) so I've been working on the sculpt. Above are the sculpt, and what the character will look like finished. It sits in the balcony and controls the world on the stage. Dave Hettmer is making the armature and I can't wait too see how it looks finished!

I'm also doing fx/makeup for a stage production this summer - will post pics when I get some - it's a zombie stage show which should be amazing!

I'm finally hitting the stage of the animation where pre-production is finally having things to show for it so updates should be more timely - excited to be animating again :)

Faces - keyframe test

I've finished the first 16 replacement faces - keyframes will be made after they're all sculpted (as some will function as keyframes for others)
Resin cast into a silicone mold, then filed away and built up with epoxy clay.
And a festival I'm going to submit to - aside from the opportunity to support a SMA member (Chestnut, whose replacement face tutorial was invaluable to working with them!) it looks like it's going to be a great festival! Check it out at http://www.nwanimationfest.com/

And the faces sequenced! (Roughly... only keyframes for now)

Painting Update

Progress is a bit slow at the moment, mostly working on a series of replacement faces for the girl puppet (photos soon!)
But I've snuck a bit of time for the painting - still in progress, but it's coming along!
