Henry got plugs!

Henry gets hair! Using a bamboo/silk blend yarn (untwisted and pulled apart) and a punch - a very small sewing needle with the end of the eye cut off to make a mini U shape that pushes the thread into the silicone, held in a mini grip I got from Animate Clay with a set of Delrin eyes.

Easier to punch the hair in while it's long and trim down...
Leading to some fun hair styles before it's barber time.
And looking more the respectable aged artist he's supposed to be. Once the hair is finished I'll go back and add a few more skin highlights, once I see how it all interacts. He's getting closer to his big film role!

Thanks Mike! Cool you get to finally meet Henry :) Bigger pictures have been posted!

Thanks for the comment Shelly & Tony - I always feel like I'm lacking a style, so it's much appreciated to hear if someone perceives one!

That is great work. How do you get the hair plugs to stay in? I'm a bit confused about that part.

Can't wait to see your lighting though. Let me know if you want any tips.

Hey Pram,
You can pull the hair out if you try - just don't try ;) The silicone is like.... like one of those gel stress balls you squeeze, maybe? It's squishy... so when you punch the hole in it, it expands back and fills the space, holding the newly embedded hair in place. You can tug it out, but it holds it in place through normal use.

henry's hair is looking so reat, emmyymme ! How will the hair be fixed when you animate ? A friend of mine made good experiences with simple glue to keep it (quite good) in shape without having thick strains of 'greasy' hair...

And now I finally know of whom he reminds me: jim henson's 'dark crystal'
