I'm really excited about this new project, and keep thinking about it. One decision - admittedly largely influenced by Coraline - is to venture into miniature knitting - eeks!
I've been knitting since I was little, and this has been my most ambition project to date:
A 4x8' 'Castle in the Sky' blanket made from a pattern I created in TVPaint. So it'll be good to work smaller this time ;)Will be awhile until the needles get here (special order off ebay) but I can't wait to get started on making his gloves, hat, scarf, a sweater or two, etc! Get them going and work on them on bus rides so I'm not losing time later on.
Can't wait to start - has anyone here tried working with the tiny needles - any advice?
It in no way compares to what you and the talented micro knitter/designer in the Coraline clip do. But I did use tooth picks as needles to make this prop for the Knitting Beetles in my project...

That looks fantastic Shelley! I don't think I'd be able to go that small with the fluffy yarn - it's a bugger to work with full sized!

oh my!! I think you're right about the asylum ;)
ReplyDeleteI did knit once with toothpicks, but I think they were thicker than those and it was just a little bracelet (can't crochet!)
I think Strider recommended using silk thread around armature wire so I'd be knitting with the same stuff - scary!
I bet you anything that Bruce Bickford would be able to help you with this question.
